Title:

Operational Space Weapon Systems SME

KBR is seeking an Operational Space Weapon Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide on-site support to Headquarters Combat Forces Command (HQ CFC).

This position focuses on operational space weapon systems and capabilities across the lifecycle—supporting decision-making related to operational employment, modernization, sustainment, fielding, test, acquisition, architecture, and requirements.

In this role, you will deliver decision-quality technical and operational analysis to a headquarters-level staff responsible for operational space weapon systems and mission capabilities. You will integrate inputs across stakeholders, produce concise recommendations for senior leaders, and respond rapidly to high-tempo taskings with clear written products and briefings

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and operational advice to a headquarters staff on space weapon systems, mission capabilities, and enabling architectures.
  • Develop and document recommendations, courses of action (COAs), and staff packages related to capability fielding, sustainment, modernization, and operational transition.
  • Perform operational, sustainment, requirements, and systems analysis (as applicable) to assess mission impacts, performance limitations, and risk—then translate results into actionable senior-leader recommendations.
  • Conduct system and technical analyses supporting the development, verification, validation, and acceptance of weapon system requirements and readiness criteria.
  • Enable operational organizations (e.g., mission units, Deltas, or equivalent) to accomplish assigned missions by facilitating HQ CFC support.
  • Facilitate internal and external stakeholder engagements; prepare briefings, minutes, action trackers, and decision-support products for boards, working groups, and senior leader engagements.
  • Provide rapid, high-quality responses to taskings and produce clear, professional written products in a high-tempo, collaborative environment.
  • Support limited travel to customer events and coordination activities as required.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • An active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required. An active Secret clearance may be considered, which is something only a U.S. citizen can obtain.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting operational space weapon systems (or closely related mission capabilities) in one or more of the following areas: operations, requirements, acquisition, test, sustainment, readiness, engineering, or mission integration.
  • Ability to translate complex technical/operational information into actionable recommendations for senior government leadership.
  • Ability to multi-task and produce high-quality products in a high-tempo environment; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be willing and able to work daily within a SCIF.

Desired:

  • Prior experience supporting a headquarters-level space organization, such as HQ CFC, a Service Headquarters, Combatant Command staff, Field/Major Command, or equivalent high-level organization.
  • Experience developing or staffing decision products that inform capability oversight, resourcing, and/or readiness reporting at the headquarters level.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition and requirements processes applicable to weapon systems.
  • Familiarity with DoD resourcing processes, including Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE).
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, systems engineering, physics, operations research, or closely related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Working Hours: Standard

Scheduled Weekly Hours:
