Title: Open Source DBARemoteFTE Overview:We are seeking a
Senior Database Engineer with deep expertise in
MariaDB and PostgreSQL architecture-not just as a cloud user, but as a hands-on engineer capable of designing, deploying, and troubleshooting databases on
bare metal infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong experience driving database reliability, performance, and recovery strategies from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, implement, and maintain MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases in bare metal and on-premise environments.
- Own end-to-end database architecture, including replication, clustering, failover, and recovery strategies.
- Analyze and document potential failure scenarios and build robust mitigation plans.
- Perform deep-dive troubleshooting for performance bottlenecks, corruption issues, and replication delays.
- Manage schema design, indexing strategy, and query optimization for high-performance workloads.
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure database scalability and fault tolerance.
- Develop and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring solutions.
- Contribute to database automation (deployment, upgrades, patching) via scripts or configuration tools.
Required Skills:- 7+ years of hands-on experience managing MariaDB and PostgreSQL in on-prem/bare metal environments.
- Deep understanding of database internals, replication models, WAL/redo logs, and recovery mechanisms.
- Strong troubleshooting skills-especially under complex failure conditions.
- Proven experience implementing high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
- Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and storage engine management.
- Proficiency with Linux-based systems administration.
- Familiarity with configuration management or automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, or Bash/Python scripting).
