Onshore Pipelines Engineer II

Play an integral role in Worley's Energy, Chemicals and Resources business by supporting the delivery of critical pipeline infrastructure projects that enable the safe, reliable, and sustainable transportation of energy and natural resources. As an Onshore Pipelines Engineer II, you will contribute to the engineering and design of complex pipeline systems and related facilities while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve technical challenges and deliver value to our clients.

You will participate in projects spanning crude oil, natural gas, water, hydrogen, and CO2 transportation systems across North America.

Purpose of the role

The Onshore Pipelines Engineer II supports the planning, design, analysis, and execution of onshore pipeline and pipeline facility projects. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and project leadership, you will develop engineering deliverables, perform technical calculations, support design activities, and contribute to the successful delivery of projects that meet client expectations, regulatory requirements, and Worley's standards for safety, quality, and sustainability.

You will build technical capability through hands-on project experience while strengthening your understanding of pipeline engineering, regulatory compliance, project execution, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

This position follows a hybrid work model with a combination of office-based collaboration and flexible working arrangements, depending on project and client requirements.

You will be responsible for

• Supporting the engineering, design, and execution of pipeline and pipeline facility projects under the direction of Project Engineers and Project Managers.
• Preparing engineering calculations, technical analyses, and design documentation for pipeline systems and associated facilities.
• Performing line sizing, hydraulics evaluations, buoyancy assessments, hydrostatic test calculations, stress evaluations, wall thickness calculations, and other engineering analyses.
• Assisting with route development, crossing design, alignment sheet preparation, HDD planning, material selection, and technical specification development.
• Supporting the design and development of compressor stations, measurement and regulation facilities, and mainline valve stations.
• Coordinating engineering activities with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and environmental specialists.
• Developing and reviewing technical drawings and engineering deliverables, including alignment sheets, HDD plan and profile drawings, plot plans, piping isometrics, PFDs, and P&IDs.
• Applying industry codes, standards, regulations, and company procedures throughout project execution.
• Supporting project planning, scheduling, progress reporting, and quality management activities.
• Assisting senior engineers with technical evaluations, design reviews, constructability assessments, and project execution strategies.
• Building positive relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and clients through responsive communication and collaboration.
• Promoting a culture of health, safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence on all assignments.
• Working within the requirements of Worley's Quality Management System and project-specific quality procedures.
• Maintaining compliance with all applicable Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) requirements and safe work practices.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another engineering discipline with relevant pipeline engineering experience from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, or the ability to obtain professional registration.
• Approximately 5-10 years of progressive engineering experience in pipeline and pipeline facility design.
• Experience working within a U.S. EPC, consulting engineering, owner, or energy infrastructure environment.

Technical Expertise

• Experience supporting the design, engineering, and construction of crude oil, natural gas, water, hydrogen, and CO2 gathering and transmission pipeline systems.
• Knowledge of applicable industry standards and regulations, including:
  • ASME B31.3
  • ASME B31.4
  • ASME B31.8
  • DOT Part 192
  • DOT Part 195
• Understanding of pipeline engineering calculations, including:
  • Hydraulic modeling
  • Hydrostatic testing
  • Stress analysis
  • Wall thickness calculations
  • HDD installation and operational assessments
• Experience preparing and reviewing:
  • Alignment sheets
  • HDD plan/profile drawings
  • Plot plans
  • Piping isometrics
  • PFDs and P&IDs
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
• Familiarity with pipeline facility layouts, compressor stations, measurement and regulation facilities, and valve sites.

Compensation

For Colorado applicants:

• Salary Range is $107,240 - $130,380 annually.
• Benefits: Feel the energy at Worley with access to a range of benefits including paid-time off, holiday pay (usually 8 per year in the US), and eligibility to participate in the medical, life, dental, and vision insurance plans, as well as 401K plan.
