We are adding a OIPA Configuration Developer to our team!
Work Environment: NGL offers a flexible work environment where employees can work fully remote, hybrid or onsite at our Madison, Wis. office. We support virtual working arrangements in certain states outside of WI.
A Day in the Life:
The OIPA Configuration Developer plays a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining insurance policy administration solutions using Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA). Operating in a collaborative Agile environment, this role supports system configuration, integration, and production support activities to meet evolving business needs. This position requires a proactive problem solver with strong technical skills and a passion for continuous improvement.
Primary Responsibilities:
Software Development & Configuration
• Configure and maintain OIPA v11/v12 using Rules Palette or Equisoft Design.
• Develop and implement business logic using OIPA rules engine and XML.
• Utilize extension functionality to integrate with enterprise systems.
• Design and implement REST, SOAP, and AS File-based services.
• Write and optimize SQL queries using OIPA's database schema.
• Debug and troubleshoot rule configurations and system behavior.
• Create technical design documents, prototypes and specifications.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to test automation.
• Collaborate with developers to build scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Adhere to OIPA configuration and integration best practices.
Integration & Architecture
• Develop AsFile, Real-time, and Push integration services.
• Work with Mulesoft, AWS Lambda, and cloud infrastructure tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Apply entity-based logical modeling and data throughput optimization.
• Evaluate system capabilities to support product and service integration.
Production Support
• Maintain and support internal and third-party business applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues; provide off-hours support as needed.
• Recommend improvements and anticipate system challenges.
M&A and Strategic Projects
• Support acquisition-related system conversion and implementation efforts.
• Collaborate with business teams to ensure successful integration of merged entities.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and stakeholder meetings.
• Share ownership of deployment, testing, and operational excellence.
• Maintain technical documentation (UML, data flow, process diagrams).
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Follow software development and quality assurance best practices and governance.
• Be a positive influence for other team members; promote goodwill amongst IT and other departments of the organization.
• Actively participate in team meetings to promote collaboration and connection.

Education Requirements:
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
Years of Experience:
- A minimum of three years of experience working with OIPA configuration (rules engine, XML), SQL or T-SQL required.
- A minimum of two years of experience working with XSLT, SOAP, REST, AS Files, Git and Github required
- Experience working in life insurance, with emphasis on Preneed life insurance products and processes preferred
- Experience working in Agile (Scrum/Kanban), Test-Driven Development preferred.
