Job Responsibilities
Serves as a South Carolina Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) senior liaison between law enforcement operations, leadership, and IT resources to identify operational challenges and develop effective technology solutions. This position supervises support personnel, providing oversight, coordination, and performance management for the team's technical support activities. Conducts field visits to Troops, Regions, and other operational locations to obtain firsthand information on technology needs, system performance, workflow challenges, and user experience, and analyzes field feedback and operational data to develop and coordinate improvements.
Serves as a technical expert and senior resource for law enforcement technology. Travels to SCDPS Troops, Regions, and other operational locations to meet directly with personnel and obtain firsthand accounts of information technology issues, operational challenges, system limitations, and technology needs. Observes technology use and business processes in the field to identify issues that may not be apparent through traditional helpdesk, email, or remote reporting.
Supervises support personnel, providing oversight, coordination, and performance management for the team's technical support activities.
Engages with personnel at all levels to gather feedback regarding law enforcement technology systems, applications, equipment, connectivity, workflow, and user experience. Serves as a primary resource in the identification and resolution of complex issues by documenting problems, evaluating their operational impact, and coordinating appropriate follow-up, process improvements, and recommendations to agency leadership.
Coordinates the creation, maintenance, and delivery of training and skill-development programs for law enforcement technology. Develops and provides user guides, quick reference sheets, and other training materials for various law enforcement applications, using electronic, virtual, print, and in-person formats to improve staff understanding and effective use of technology.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements -
A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.

Agency Minimum Requirements -
A high school diploma and experience in telecommunication and case management systems utilized by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. A degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Must possess a Class I Law Enforcement certification. Must possess a minimum of five (5) years of Class 1 law enforcement experience as well as the following agency minimum requirements:
Additional Requirements:
Must have knowledge of the agency's law enforcement processes and systems and other information systems and technologies.
Must have knowledge of the agency's mission, programs and objectives.
Must be able to interpret and apply rules and regulations.
Must be able to make presentations and prepare reports, interact with agency staff to obtain information on use, issues, and new requirements for law enforcement computing systems.
Required to maintain Class 1 law enforcement certification.
Must have knowledge of law enforcement rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Must be skilled in the law enforcement specific operational equipment.
Must be able to utilize independent judgement and maintain high level of confidentiality as it relates to sensitive issues within the agency.

This position works under limited supervision.

This position is required to work with law enforcement officers during nights, weekends, and must work law enforcement duties during designated states of emergencies.
