Functions under the direction of an occupational therapist in planning and carrying out prescribed occupational therapy treatment to facilitate the rehabilitation of mentally or physically handicapped patients. Implements treatment plans and selects modalities to meet specific established goals. Conducts or assists with patient activities and maintains appropriate records. Assists in the evaluation of patient progress and discharge planning.Job Description:
Education: Required: Associate’s degree or higher level degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) Licensure/Certification: Required: Licensed by OT Board of the State of California; American Heart Association BLS Experience: Preferred: Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) or healthcare experienceReports To: Manager-Physical Therapy or Manager-Occupation Therapy Supervises: N/A Ages of Patients: Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric Blood Borne Pathogens: Moderate PotentialSkills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information, Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines, Basic Occupational Therapy Skills, Knowledge, skills, and ability to administer all department modalities, programs, and protocols appropriate to the age of the patients served, Written and verbal communication skillsEssential Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations. 2. Provides effective therapy treatment based on age specific, cultural, and rehabilitative needs and in compliance of hospital licensing and accreditation standards and in compliance with the Occupational Therapy Act. 3. Provides thorough, timely, legible, and consistent patient care documentation. 4. Individual productivity meets department standards. 5. Provides effective education and mentoring for student interns as assigned. 6. Utilizes all resources to assist with patient flow as applicable (prints forms, schedules patients, etc.). 7. Participates in special department programs. 8. Facilitates interdisciplinary communication and coordination to maximize patient outcomes. 9. Communicates positively, appropriately, and in a timely fashion to all communications including patients, co-workers, supervisors, other departments, physicians, etc. 10.
