Job DutiesThis position will provide exceptional therapy services to geropsychiatric patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive occupational therapy care in accordance with the standards set by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), state regulations, facility policies, and departmental guidelines.
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with staff, clients, community providers, and families.
Develop, plan, and implement occupational therapy interventions and group sessions using a multi-modal, evidence-based, and trauma-informed approach to promote recovery and functional outcomes.
Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments addressing both psychosocial and physical deficits, applying appropriate OT interventions.
Operate state vehicles and assist with client transportation, participate in special unit activities, and respond to patient safety needs.
Maintain proficiency in standardized client assessments (e.g., KELS, MoCA), documentation, and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Develop age-appropriate treatment plans and manage cases with strong time management and organizational skills.
Apply clinical judgment in selecting and individualizing adaptive equipment and therapeutic activities to enhance patient functionality.
Implement seating and positioning strategies to optimize patient comfort, alignment, and function.
Minimum QualificationsLicensed as an occupational therapist by the Virginia Board of Medicine
Valid driver's license
