The Occupational Therapist independently evaluates patients' level of function and determines, develops, and implements individualized treatment goals and plans in alignment with the patient/caregiver goals. Determines treatment strategies and delivers Occupational Therapy services that promote health and wellness, prevent injury or disability, improve and develop self -dependency and maintenance, productivity, leisure, perceptual motor function, rest, mental, cognitive physical, sensory-perceptual, psychosocial developmental, and emotional wellbeing in a variety of contexts and environments in order to maximize function in the areas of daily living, leisure/recreation, and productivity/work. Delegates patient care responsibilities to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. This role encompasses evaluation skills and techniques, analysis of patients, and application Occupational Therapy to maximize the patient's functional independence. May work in an Inpatient, Outpatient, Home Care, Skilled Nursing, or Assisted Living environment. Upon Physician referral, performs thorough evaluation of patient's level of function. Performs evaluations for upper extremity strength, motor control, joint mobility, soft tissue integrity, pain, balance, coordination, perceptual-cognitive motor function, and functional abilities of daily living. Recognizes physiological, psychological, and age-related changes in the patient. Consults with other Health Care Team members as necessary. Develop an individualized patient centered treatment plan of care. Evaluate care plan on an on-going basis, revising as necessary in accordance with patient's care needs. Establish measurable goals with the patient/family based on appropriate patient care protocols and critical paths in order to meet patient needs. Notify Physician of any changes in status or progress. Deliver therapeutic techniques that are appropriate to patient's needs and medical status. Implement, deliver and delegate patient care by utilizing appropriate interventions and clinical decision making. Therapeutic techniques to support every day activities include but are not limited to fine motor skills, exercises to improve gross motor skills, and techniques to support and to maximize function in the areas of daily living, leisure/recreation, and productivity/work. Qualifications: Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy or Doctor of Occupational Therapy Preferred Experience: Previous experience as an Occupational Therapist Required Licensure: Current State of CT Occupational Therapy license For new grads: Requires Temp State of CT Occupational Therapy License; Temp State of CT Occupational Therapy license limited to 120 days. Failure to obtain State of CT Occupational Therapy license in accordance with State of CT Guidelines will result in termination.
