  • Identify major issues and establish measurable goals for therapy
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families to motivate and facilitate cooperation
  • Ensure adherence to medical and safety protocols, including vital signs monitoring

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an Occupational Therapist, you will help patients regain independence and quality of life so they can safely perform daily activities.Every day you will assess diverse patients (orthopedic, neurological, sensory, cancer recovery, etc.), develop treatment plans, and conduct evaluations/re-evaluations. You will be expected to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, document thoroughly, and provide positive, motivating care to a high volume of patients.To be successful in this role, you must be flexible, adaptable, exceptionally organized, and a personable, motivating team player.

  • Collects all pertinent information from medical record, referral, etc., prior to evaluation.
  • Utilizes diagnostically relevant evaluation methods and tools.
  • Evaluates patients comprehensively and identifies appropriate treatment plan in keeping with physician's referral, patient's diagnosis, abilities and age using objective, measurable data, within departmental policy timelines.
  • Identifies major problems and establishes measurable functional goals. Justifies need for skilled therapy services.
  • Is able to provide clear, concise and effective age-appropriate communication to patients or families to motivate patients and obtain their cooperation in achieving mutually agreed upon goals.
  • Adheres to basic medical and safety precautions for patient; including monitoring vital signs, following precautions and contraindications for modalities, and specific to patient's diagnosis.
Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school of occupational therapy
  • Minimum one year experience as an Occupational Therapist working in a clinical setting with adult population, preferably rehabilitation
  • Master's Degree from an accredited school of occupational therapy
  • Successful completion of a six-month OT internship.
  • Occupational Therapist: CA
  • Basic Life Support - CPR
