- Education: Master's degree or higher from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
- Licensure: Active Occupational Therapist license issued by the Texas Advisory Board of Occupational Therapy (TABOT).
- Certification: CPR certification.
- Language Proficiency: Bilingual skills preferred but not required.
Your Role: As an
Occupational Therapist, you'll play a critical role in helping students improve functional skills and achieve greater independence in their educational environments. Your responsibilities will include:
- Evaluate Needs: Perform Occupational Therapy assessments to determine students' needs and eligibility for specialized services.
- Communicate Findings: Communicate evaluation findings to parents, educators, and other stakeholders, offering clear, actionable recommendations.
- Develop Interventions: Collaborate with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team to create evidence-based interventions that promote student participation, access to education, and skill development.
- Provide Therapy: Deliver direct therapy services or oversee Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) in implementing IEP goals.
- Monitor Progress: Maintain accurate, detailed records of student progress and use data to adjust interventions as needed.
- Support Team: Actively participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team discussions to advocate for students and support their growth.
