Position Summary
Under the general direction of the U.S. Occupational Health & Wellness Lead, provide occupational and non-occupational clinical care services, emergency response, case management, medical surveillance, and wellness services for Zoetis colleagues and contingent work force. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including leadership, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), human resources, benefits, legal teams, security, third-party insurance carriers, vendors, and consultants.

The focus is to promote a safe and healthy work environment for all colleagues. A key responsibility includes making recommendations to enhance the safety and health of colleagues while aiming for positive outcomes in a cost-effective manner.

Position Responsibilities include:
• Provide advanced clinical care (occupational & non-occupational): Assess, diagnose, and treat within Advanced Practitioner scope. Make referrals and recommend work restrictions to support safe recovery. This may include travel health consultation and reproductive health risk assessments.
• Fitness for duty: Evaluate work- and non-work-related conditions to determine fitness for duty and support safe job placement in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders.
• Case management & return-to-work: Coordinate treatment, restrictions, and return-to-work plans for injuries/illnesses. Manage Workers' Compensation, disability claims, and medically-related absences. Partner with third-party carriers, gather/review medical information, track progress, communicate updates to appropriate stakeholders, and drive timely case closure.
• ADA accommodations (interactive process): Support ADA reviews for complex medical conditions and accommodation needs. Partner with Human Resources and contribute to the interactive process to enable safe, sustainable work.
• Health education & counseling: Provide clear education and coaching to support adherence to treatment plans, recovery, and self-management.
• Medical surveillance & exposure programs: Conduct and manage surveillance exams for exposure groups, including scheduling, tracking, and follow-up of required screenings.
• Employment exams: Perform post-hire exams and related testing as required.
• Injury prevention program (IPP): Lead site IPP initiatives, including vendor coordination, reporting, and tracking program performance.
• Emergency response & readiness: Respond to on-site medical emergencies within scope of practice. Provide training and oversight for the Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT).
• Orientation & service awareness: Participate in new hire orientation to introduce Occupational Health & Wellness services and how colleagues access support.
• Substance testing & referrals: Conduct urine, saliva, and breath alcohol testing per policy, including chain-of-custody documentation. Make referrals to EAP and other resources and support follow-up in line with policy.
• Wellness & health promotion: Deliver coaching and education and connect colleagues to available benefits and programs. Develop and support site health promotion and disease-prevention initiatives (e.g., weight management, fitness, stress reduction).
• Immunizations: Administer vaccines; maintain documentation, required reporting, and inventory control.
• Remote/virtual support: Provide virtual occupational health services to supported colleague group within licensure and scope of practice.
• Compliance & professional practice: Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local requirements; stay current on regulatory changes and advise leadership on needed actions.
• Privacy & confidentiality: Safeguard colleague health information and maintain confidentiality in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Workplace hazard recognition: Participate in identifying, evaluating, and helping prevent workplace hazards (e.g., ergonomics, indoor air quality, allergens, heat stress.)
• Policies, procedures, and continuous improvement: Contribute to the review, development, and updating of policies and procedures independently and/or in collaboration with others.
• Clinical documentation: Document care in electronic medical record systems accurately and timely, using established standards and protocols (SOAP charting.)
• Record retention: Maintain, store, and manage medical records in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements, including retention and destruction schedules.
• Audit readiness: Maintain audit readiness and participate in all audits using standardized processes.
• Supplies, equipment, and clinic operations: Manage medication and supply inventory within formulary and budget; maintain equipment and required calibrations.
• Budget stewardship: Manage clinic costs within budget, including supplies, medications, equipment, maintenance, and continuing education.
• Meetings and projects: Participate in meetings and complete assigned projects on schedule.

Minimum Requirements for Education and Experience:
• Accredited Degree and Board Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (AANP, ANCC) or Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
• Current active, unrestricted state license
• Required current BLS or ACLS certification
• At least 5 years' experience in occupational health, ER or urgent care
• Willing to obtain license in other states where applicable and permitted
• Able to work independently of daily physician oversight, and able to recognize the need for consultation with the U.S. Occupational Health & Wellness Lead or collaborative Physician Consultant

Technical Skills and Competencies:
• Able to work full-time in an on-site employer clinic environment.
• Proficient in the use of electronic medical record keeping systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues, peers, and functional leaders at all levels.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with a diverse workforce
• Ability to independently manage medical emergencies and diagnose and treat musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses, and to shift priorities based on patient needs.
• Competent knowledge of lifestyle risk factors, ergonomics, health promotion and prevention strategies
• Willing to obtain certification as an occupational health professional (COHN)
• Willing to be certified as a MERT trainer
• Demonstrate professional development and obtain required continuing education to enhance growth and maintain competency, including Spirometry, Substance Abuse testing, Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA), etc.

Physical Position Requirements:
• The work conditions for the position are stationary with periodic standing, walking, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing throughout the workday. Transferring patients and objects may be required.
• This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity.
• The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials.
• Must wear appropriate gowning and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in manufacturing/production areas.
• Ability to travel (10-15%) and to work greater than 40 hours per week, including occasional weekends and holidays to support the business.

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000 to $151,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the base pay target range for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

This position is also eligible for short-term incentive compensation.

This position is also eligible for long-term incentives.
