Nursing Simulation Manager provides strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight of simulation-based education within the Nursing Department. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating simulation curriculum across LPN, BSN, and certificate programs to ensure alignment with program outcomes, accreditation standards, and Washington Administrative Code (WAC) requirements.
The Simulation Manager leads the advancement of high-quality, evidence-based simulation practices consistent with INACSL standards and supports regulatory compliance, including the Washington Administrative Codes (WAC)related to simulation in nursing education. This role works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration to integrate simulation throughout the curriculum and enhance student learning, clinical judgment, and patient safety.
In partnership with the Nursing Dean and Director, this position supervises simulation operations, including personnel, resources, and technology, and plays a key role in achieving and maintaining simulation accreditation.
DEPARTMENT STATEMENT: The mission of the Green River College Nursing Department is to provide quality education to prepare students as safe, competent practitioners within our diverse healthcare community. Graduates of the Green River College Nursing Program will be qualified candidates for the successful completion of the NCLEX and prepared for advancement in continuing healthcare education. Position Responsibilities Simulation Program Leadership and Oversight- Provide comprehensive oversight of all simulation activities across nursing programs (LPN, BSN, and certificate pathways)
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for simulation that supports program growth, clinical capacity, and student outcomes
- Ensure compliance with state regulations, accreditation standards (INACSL), and best practices in simulation education
- Lead efforts to obtain and maintain national simulation accreditation
- Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and quality standards for simulation operations
- Ensure appropriate faculty-to-student ratios and safe learning environments in simulation settings
Curriculum Development and Integration- Collaborate with faculty to design, implement, and evaluate simulation curriculum aligned with course and program learning outcomes
- Partner with faculty to integrate simulation across the curriculum to support clinical competency development
- Work in collaboration with faculty to develop evidence-based, standardized simulation scenarios, debriefing methods, and evaluation tools
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure simulation experiences reflect current clinical practice and evidence-based standards
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure simulation is scaffolded and aligned appropriately across programs
Faculty Development and Support- Train and support faculty serving as content matter experts in simulation
- Develop and deliver ongoing faculty development in simulation pedagogy, facilitation, and debriefing
- Mentor faculty in integrating simulation into coursework and evaluating student performance
- Promote consistent, high-quality simulation practices across instructors and courses
- Support onboarding and training of new faculty in simulation methodologies
Operations and Resource Management- Oversee daily operations of simulation
- Supervise simulation personnel, including the Simulation Technician
- Coordinate scheduling of simulation activities, labs, and resources
- In collaboration with the Simulation Technician, ensure proper maintenance,utilization, and lifecycle management of simulation equipment
- In collaboration with the Simulation Technician,Manage inventory, supplies, and simulation-related budgets
- Collaborate with vendors and external partners to support simulation needs
- Ensure safe handling of equipment and adherence to regulatory and safety standards
Assessment, Evaluation, and Reporting- Develop and implement processes for evaluating simulation effectiveness and student outcomes
- Collect, analyze, and report simulation data to inform program improvement
- Support accreditation reporting and documentation related to simulation
- Participate in program evaluation, continuous quality improvement, and regulatory reporting
- Provide data to leadership to support decision-making and program compliance
Student Support and Advising- Provide advising and support to nursing students
- Support student success through remediation planning and skills development
- Collaborate with faculty to identify and support at-risk students
- Promote a supportive, inclusive, and equitable learning environment
Collaboration and Leadership- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and staff to support program goals and operations
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and strategic initiatives
- Engage with external partners, simulation networks, and professional organizations
- Contribute to program growth, innovation, and workforce alignment efforts
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications- Master's degree in Nursingfrom an accredited institution
- Current, unencumbered RN license in Washington State (or ability to obtain prior to hire)
- Minimum of three (5) years of clinical nursing experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in simulation-based education
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and instructional design
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)requiredwithin 3 months of hire
- Strong knowledge of simulation standards, technologies, and best practices
- Demonstrated commitment to student success, equity, and inclusive teaching practices
Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree in Nursing Educationfrom an accredited institution
- Prior experience in simulation program leadership or management
- Experience in leadership, coordination, or program oversight
- Experience with simulation accreditation processes
- Teaching experience in pre-licensure nursing education
- Experience working in community college or diverse educational settings
- Knowledge of WAC regulations, accreditation standards, and nursing program compliance
- Experience with data analysis, program evaluation, and quality improvement
