Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Emergency Room System Director, the Emergency Room Nurse Manager assumes 24-hour responsibility in overseeing and coordinating the clinical activities, operations, quality and safety of patient care and patient experience of the assigned unit. The Nurse Manager also works with the Emergency Room Director on ensuring personnel development, management and retention of staff.

General Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with the Emergency Room Director on implementing, monitoring and evaluating standards of care and practice.
  • Directs, supervises and evaluates the performance of the nursing staff.
  • Participates collaborates with the Emergency Room Director on implementing, monitoring and evaluating standards of care and practice.
  • The Nurse Manager assists in ensuring assigned units are in compliance with regulatory standards and appropriateness of care.
  • Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and customer service skills required
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • BSN, required.
  • MSN, preferred.
  • Certifications in specialty, preferred.
  • Previous leadership/management experience, required.
  • Current active Florida or Compact Nursing License.
  • Knowledge of human resources management, program development, fiscal management, computer softwares, and accrediting agency standards, required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in area of practice.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS at time of hire.
  • Additional certifications required at start date or intrafacility transfer:
    • ER: ACLS, PALS, CPI within 90 days of start date, NIH within 90 days of start date or prior to completion of orientation - whichever is first
