Job Description:

The Nursing Lab and Simulation Assistant, under direction of the Lab and Simulations Coordinator, is integral to the delivery of laboratory and simulation experiences for nursing students. The position is responsible to assist with the development and implementation of lab and simulation curricula that align with course objectives, program outcomes, and promote student learning for all programs offered in the School of Nursing to include the patient care technician program.

In collaboration with the Nursing Lab and Simulation Coordinator, the assistant supports the operation of simulations and assists with training and educating faculty and instructional assistants. Using a variety of teaching methods, equipment, and advanced technology, the lab and simulation team establishes a learning environment that mimics the clinical setting and fosters active learning, critical thinking, effective communication, and competence required for safe, patient-centered care and optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities also include facilitating simulations, open lab sessions, assisting with the coordination, maintenance, and purchasing of simulation equipment and supplies. The Nursing Lab and Simulation Assistant may be asked to teach lab courses and provide open lab hours to support student skill practice in all nursing programs. Needs to be flexible with their schedule sometimes being asked to work evening and weekends.

Additional responsibilities include participating in advising and participating in School of Nursing admission weekend events. This position has 9-month responsibilities. Reports to the Lab and Simulation Coordinator. Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

The School of Nursing offers a BSN, RN to BSN completion program, and an MSN program. The School of Nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

The Emmanuel College School of Nursing invites applications for the Assistant Lab and Simulation Coordinator. The position will start September 1, 2026.

Requirements:

Applicants must have a Massachusetts nursing license in good standing and hold a BSN and MS in Nursing. The applicant must possess a minimum of five years full-time nursing experience and evidence of clinical competence in clinical expertise.

Teaching experience in higher education is strongly preferred. Applicants must have strong teaching skills with the ability to teach at the undergraduate level. Faculty in this program are expected to teach, advise, mentor, evaluate students in laboratory, face-to-face, and/or with our on-line program. Help develop student learning activities to meet students and program learning outcomes. Supports all programs offered by the School of Nursing.

Faculty shall participate in the governance of Emmanuel College and the School of Nursing, as appropriate, for the accomplishment of the goals of the College and School of Nursing. Faculty are expected to develop, implement and evaluate policies to include systematic evaluation data analysis, and suggest and implement areas in need of improvement. In addition, they are responsible for input in developing and evaluating the curriculum plan.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience participating in, designing, and facilitating high-fidelity simulation.
  • Academic and/or clinical teaching experience.
  • Preferred License/Certification: Certified Health Simulation Educator (CHSE). If not already certified, willingness to become certified.
  • Simulation experience is highly desired.
  • Experience with the use of and maintenance of high-fidelity simulators

  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing nursing practice
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently, communicate updates
  • Ability to work under pressure and under timeframes
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to prepare written reports, correspondence and recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including capacity to work cooperatively with the School of Nursing Team.

Unless otherwise stated above, this is an on-campus position. This is not a remote or hybrid position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus, residential college experience for our students and the community.

The posted salary range reflects the good-faith compensation estimate for this position. The actual pay offered will be based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity factors. $75,000-90,000.
