Full Job Description
Working collaboratively with physicians, nursing leadership, operations leaders, and interdisciplinary teams, the Director of Endoscopy Services is responsible for the overall strategic, operational, clinical, financial, and regulatory performance of the Endoscopy Department. This position provides leadership and oversight for registered nurses, endoscopy technicians, administrative support staff, and department operations while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, patient-centered care.

The Director is responsible for business development initiatives, growth strategies, physician relationship management, quality outcomes, workforce engagement, regulatory compliance, and achievement of departmental goals. This position serves as the operational and clinical leader for all endoscopy services and fosters a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Job Description:

Education/Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)


  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts


  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in procedural services, perioperative services, gastroenterology, endoscopy, or related healthcare settings


  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex healthcare operations


  • Experience with budgeting, workforce planning, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance


Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field


  • Previous Director-level leadership experience


  • Experience with outpatient and inpatient endoscopy operations


  • Certification in Gastroenterology Nursing (CGRN) or leadership certification


Other Skills/Knowledge

Required:

  • Strong leadership, communication, team-building, and change management skills


  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards


  • Expertise in performance improvement methodologies


  • Proven business development and strategic planning experience


  • Strong financial and operational management skills


LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Current Massachusetts RN License


  • Basic Life Support (BLS)


Preferred:

  • CGRN Certification


  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Reports to: Senior Director/AVP Perioperative and Procedural Services (or designated leader)

  • Endoscopy Supervisor

JOB FUNCTIONS

Provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for Endoscopy Services.

  • Develops and executes departmental strategic plans aligned with organizational goals.


  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the Endoscopy Department.


  • Ensures delivery of high-quality, safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.


  • Promotes a culture of accountability, teamwork, engagement, and continuous improvement.


  • Leads recruitment, retention, succession planning, and workforce development initiatives.


  • Provides direct leadership and mentorship to clinical and operational staff.


  • Establishes performance expectations and conducts evaluations for leadership and staff.


  • Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state, federal, and organizational standards.


  • Drives patient experience initiatives and service excellence outcomes.


  • Oversees department budgeting, capital planning, productivity management, and resource allocation.


  • Monitors and improves quality, safety, throughput, and operational metrics.


  • Leads business development efforts to expand endoscopy services and increase procedural volumes.


  • Develops relationships with gastroenterologists, surgeons, primary care providers, and referral sources.


  • Identifies growth opportunities and supports implementation of new services and technologies.


  • Collaborates with physician leaders to achieve strategic and operational goals.


  • Oversees implementation of evidence-based clinical practices.


  • Reviews quality indicators and develops corrective action plans when necessary.


  • Leads departmental performance improvement and accreditation readiness activities.


  • Participates in organizational leadership initiatives and committees.


  • Promotes staff engagement, professional development, and leadership growth.


Pay Range:
$155,000.00 USD - $211,000.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
