About the Indiana Veterans' Home:

The Indiana Veterans' Home is located in West Lafayette, Indiana. Originally created to care for veterans of the Civil War, the Indiana Veterans' Home welcomed its first resident in 1896. Located on 250+ acres in West Lafayette, IVH is a full-service care facility offering a complete array of services for residents.

The mission of the Indiana Veterans' Home is to honor Indiana's veterans and their spouses by providing the highest level of care in a therapeutic home-like environment, enhancing health and yielding optimal quality of life. To do this and meet the unique needs of these heroes and their families, we deliver compassionate and comprehensive skilled care while integrating arts and cultural programming and preserving the rich history of the Home.

Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $80,600.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.

A Day in the Life:

Program Administration Support
  • Provide administrative and clinical leadership for nursing personnel.
  • Collaborate with leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program goals and objectives.
  • Assist in overseeing the development and implementation of program-specific needs and therapeutic outcomes.
  • Serve on facility committees and make recommendations on nursing matters.
  • Act as a liaison with other disciplines to communicate and problem-solve individual needs.
  • Ensure routine rounds are conducted for the safety and security of individuals and staff.

Program Management Support
  • Assist in responding and offering leadership during emergency situations involving individuals and/or staff within the state-operated health care facility.
  • Provide education and training on facility and nursing policies and procedures while monitoring compliance.
  • Identify problems and implement corrective actions to address individual care and staff issues.
  • Evaluate and monitor individual care and assist in creating treatment plans in collaboration with other clinical staff.

Talent Development & Performance Management
  • Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities for professional development.
  • Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate employee performance to ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

  • Proficiency in computer skills and ability to learn programs used in maintaining electronic medical records.
  • Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations and lead staff with professionalism and composure.

An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, a minimum of one year of supervisory experience, an active Indiana Registered Nurse license, and current CPR certification, as well as ongoing participation in behavioral intervention training relevant to the assigned setting.

Individuals should have the ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
