Full Job Description
JOB DEFINITION:

To provided clinical leadership, supervision and coordination of nursing services within the Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center. To oversee nursing staff on shift, manage critical incidents, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to stabilize and support individuals in crisis, in addition to providing crisis services.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse by the New York State Department of Education and possess an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Two (2) years of community mental health experience and/or mental health experience specifically working in psychiatric, behavioral health, or crisis stabilization settings.
  • Previous experience working with children and adolescents, familiarity with emergency response protocols, and de-escalation techniques is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role required.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Ensures the completion of all medical assessments for each client, including coordinating additional services with the psychiatrist.
  2. Collaborates with the psychiatrist in the coordination of care for clients to include clinical and educational training of the team as needed; development, maintenance and supervision of all medication administration efforts; supervision of all psychiatric and medical treatment and/or medical interventions.
  3. Monitors the pharmacological effects of prescribed psychotropic medications and notifies the psychiatrist of their reported effectiveness.
  4. Working in conjunction with the psychiatrist and nurse practitioner, is responsible for the coordination of patient education efforts to include the benefits, risks and possible side effects of prescribed medication. This education effort is not limited to home visits but may also include the coordination of various groups to include but not limited to, medication, wellness, etc.
  5. Responsible for entering the documentation in EHR.
  6. Responsible for conducting shift change reports and ensure continuity of care through accurate communication and documentation.
  7. Supervise and support nursing staff during assigned shift, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and documentation requirements.
  8. Oversee patient triage, assessment, medication administration, monitoring, and crisis intervention.
  9. Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies, initiate appropriate interventions, and de-escalate high risk situations.
  10. Provide mentorship, performance feedback, and support ongoing development of ICSC nursing staff.
  11. Monitor inventory of medical supplies and medications, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  12. Maintain trauma-informed care principles and promote safe, respectful, and recovery-oriented care.
  13. Support the use of data in clinical supervision to inform decision-making
  14. Identify and implement quality improvement trainings and activities as part of professional development goals
