Description
The Nurse Program Administrator (Assistant Director of Nursing) provides clinical administrative support tothe Nurse Manager (Director of Nursing) in directing nursing activities and overseeing nursing operations atthe Bowling Green Veterans Center. This role provides leadership and clinical guidance to nursing staff,helping to drive clinical excellence, maintain regulatory compliance, and foster a positive work environmentaligned with the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA) mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Operations Oversight - Assist the Nurse Manager with oversight of all clinical operations, ensuringnursing activities comply with state and federal regulations, including Centers for Medicare and MedicaidServices (CMS) requirements.
- Policy and Procedure Development - Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation offacility policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
- Quality Improvement - Serve on multiple facility committees (e.g., Quality Assurance, Clinical Outcomes) tocoordinate and drive facility-wide quality improvement initiatives. Gather clinical data, draft reports, andcontribute expertise to action plans, veteran care plans, and policy development.
- Staff Supervision and Development - Supervise nursing staff; approve leave requests, time sheets, and completeperformance evaluations. Provide mentoring, coaching, and constructive performance feedback to clinical staff.Participate in the selection, promotion, and disciplinary processes for nursing personnel.
- Clinical Leadership - Assess opportunities to improve clinical services by monitoring data within theelectronic documentation system, reviewing written audits, and evaluating clinical competency results.Supervise the implementation of nursing rehabilitation and restorative programs.
- Daily Operations - Perform daily rounds and report resident care status to the Nurse Manager. Conduct staffmeetings and communicate effectively with nursing personnel.
- Provider and External Relations - Interact frequently with providers and professionals outside the facility,requiring strong customer service skills and professional responsiveness.
- Leadership Coverage - Fulfill the duties and provide clinical departmental leadership in the absence of theNurse Manager.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Must have three years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:A bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
