Position SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner (Psychiatry), under the supervision of the Discipline Director of Behavioral Health, provides diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic psychiatric services to Unity Health Care patients experiencing mental health disorders. Services may be provided across Unity community health centers, homeless service sites, and Department of Corrections facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Obtain and evaluate patient clinical histories.
- Provide psychiatric examinations, evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment.
- Order and interpret appropriate clinical and laboratory tests.
- Develop comprehensive treatment plans and provide direct psychiatric services.
- Evaluate psychotropic medication needs and recommend appropriate treatment.
- Provide on-site crisis intervention.
- Monitor clinical service delivery and participate in quality improvement activities.
- Prepare written evaluations and recommendations for authorized referral agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Nurse Practitioner degree in Psychiatry from an accredited institution.
- Current District of Columbia licensure.
- Current Federal DEA and District of Columbia CDS certificates.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
- Proficiency with business software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
