Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-procedure history and physical assessments, obtain patient consent, and place orders.
  • Conduct post-procedure assessments and provide patient education during discharge.
  • Manage follow-up visits for outpatient care after procedures.
  • Contribute to the Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic and consult inpatient cases.
  • Order and interpret necessary laboratory and imaging studies.
  • Prescribe and manage medications for patients.
  • Develop comprehensive discharge plans and patient education materials.
  • Oversee outpatient treatment plans for patients with pulmonary hypertension.

100% FTE, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM- 5:00 PM.

Join the growing Cardiac Program at the American Family Children's Hospital and be part of a dedicated team! You will be caring for children (and adults with congenital heart disease) with cardiac conditions that require interventions as well as patients with pulmonary hypertension

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to:
  • Perform pre-procedure history and physicals, obtain consent and place orders
  • Complete post-procedure assessments, discharge teaching and discharge orders
  • Perform post procedure follow up visits as an outpatient.
  • Participate in the Pulmonary Hypertension (PHT) Clinic and consult on all inpatient PHT patients
  • Order and interpret appropriate laboratory and imaging studies
  • Order and prescribe appropriate medications
  • Develop discharge plans and provide education
  • Manage outpatient treatment plans for PHT patients

Education:
Minimum -
  • If Nurse Practitioner: Master's or Doctorate's degree from accredited Nursing Program
  • If Physician Assistant: Bachelor's or Master's degree from accredited PA Program.

Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum -
If Nurse Practitioner:
  • Active RN and APNP license in State of Wisconsin AND
  • Active board certification as a NP in the following: Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Practice Nurse Practitioner.

If Physician Assistant:
  • Active PA license in State of Wisconsin AND
  • Active PA board certification.

All Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant applicants must have:
  • Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire.
  • CPR certification and advanced life support certifications if relevant to practice area (ACLS, PALS, NRP).
