Overview

Nurse Practitioner (NP)

We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to function as an advanced practice provider delivering medical evaluation, physical health stabilization, and integrated primary care to individuals in a behavioral health setting. Practicing within the full scope of New York State licensure, the NP ensures that clients experiencing acute mental health or substance use emergencies are medically cleared and treated for underlying health conditions. This role is a vital part of a 24/7 multidisciplinary team, bridging the gap between physical health and behavioral health crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive physical health evaluations, including medical histories, physical exams, and health risk assessments
  • Manages acute and chronic medical conditions for clients admitted for mental health or substance use stabilization
  • Prescribes and manages medications for physical health needs and provides support for withdrawal management protocols
  • Conducts medication reconciliation and orders laboratory or toxicology studies to interpret results and adjust treatment plans
  • Collaborates with the medical director, psychiatrists, RNs, and social workers to develop integrated discharge and safety plans
  • Participates in multidisciplinary rounds to ensure clients are medically stable for behavioral health programming
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (Avatar) in compliance with OMH/OASAS and HIPAA standards
  • Adheres to DEA, PMP/I-STOP, and EPCS requirements for all prescription protocols
  • Provides health education to patients and families regarding medical diagnoses, harm reduction, and overdose prevention
  • Engages in peer reviews and quality improvement initiatives to maintain high standards of integrated care


Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted New York State Registered Professional Nurse license
  • Active, unrestricted New York State Nurse Practitioner certification (Family, Adult, or Gerontology)
  • Active DEA registration with authority to prescribe controlled substances
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) preferred; new graduates with strong clinical backgrounds considered
  • Experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, or behavioral health settings strongly preferred
  • Current CPR/BLS certification; ACLS preferred
  • Advanced clinical knowledge of medical stabilization and the physical impacts of substance use or withdrawal
  • Expert assessment skills for identifying medical emergencies masked by behavioral health symptoms
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and harm-reduction clinical practices
  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (Avatar preferred) and EPCS requirements
  • Excellent collaborative communication skills for working with a diverse team of medical and non-medical professionals


Additional Information

This is a full-time exempt role with an annual salary of $150,000-$169,744 with a full benefits package. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 25 days of paid time off, access to a retirement account with an employer to match, and tuition reimbursement.

This role is located in Blauvelt, NY and has a schedule of Sunday-Tuesday 7am-7pm.
