Duties and Responsibilities: This position obtains patient histories, performs physical examinations, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including health risk assessments; accurately records patient information, counsels patients, develops and maintains health care or therapeutic plans consistent with patient needs and the County's wellness initiatives. Distributes wellness program educational literature and material, promotes and assists with wellness events. This position also performs professional work in Henderson County's Wellness Clinic in support of the County's employee wellness program. Hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30 pm. Counsels employees regarding individualized health risk assessments and recommends and assists with health management measures; diagnoses presented medical conditions and provides appropriate medical treatment and/or referral; prescribes medications accordingly; adheres to HIPAA guidelines and regulations. Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed as required by a collaborating physician. Reports to the Wellness Clinic Director.

Qualifications : Requires thorough knowledge of principles and practices of general medicine and disease states. Considerable knowledge of health appraisal tools, laboratory tests and findings, and therapeutic procedures; ability to plan a regime of care based on assessment and findings. Working knowledge of available resources and appropriate referral methods. Skill in performing clinical functions. Ability to record accurately and completely all information necessary to evaluate and plan care. Ability to teach and counsel patients, their families, and other health professionals. Some knowledge of computers, various software applications, and other required office equipment; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to attend work regularly, excellent interpersonal skills.

Nurse Practitioner Applicants: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, and "approved to practice medical acts" based on education and experience by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Preferably at least one year of experience as a nurse practitioner.

Physician Assistant Applicants: Current licensure as a Physician Assistant by the North Carolina Medical Board and "approved to practice medical acts" based on education and experience by the North Carolina Medical Board. Preferably at least one year of experience as a physician extender.

Pre-employment drug screen, SBI Fingerprint, driving history and criminal background checks are required of finalist applicants.
