Full Job Description
Nurse Manager

Pay Range: $95,000-$105,000 annually

Full-Time: 40 hours/week
Typical Schedule: 1st Shift, Variable

As a Nurse Manager, you will provide leadership, clinical oversight, and operational support for assigned nursing units while fostering a therapeutic and recovery-focused environment for patients and staff alike. Working under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, this role is responsible for supporting nursing operations, staff development, quality outcomes, and compliance initiatives within the facility.

What You'll Do

As a Nurse Manager at RCA, you will:
  • Provide direct supervision, mentorship, coaching, and evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Ensure high-quality clinical outcomes through chart audits, electronic monitoring, patient oversight, and timely review of incidents and clinical concerns.
  • Support nursing staff through formal training, remedial education, competency validation, and one-on-one coaching related to clinical practice, operational workflows, and technology systems.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and site leadership to identify ongoing training opportunities and workflow improvement needs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain nursing initiatives, operational processes, and clinical best practices in partnership with nursing leadership.
  • Monitor patient care activities and ensure compliance with RCA policies, state regulations, accrediting standards, infection control practices, and evidence-based nursing care.
  • Conduct purposeful rounding throughout assigned units to support patient safety, employee engagement, and quality outcomes.
  • Provide leadership support during emergencies, behavioral escalations, admissions, discharges, and other operational needs.
  • Partner with medical providers, clinical teams, and leadership to support individualized, person-centered, recovery-oriented treatment planning.
  • Assist with employee scheduling, staffing oversight, payroll review, and departmental coverage needs.
  • Support onboarding, orientation, competency validation, and corrective action processes for nursing staff.
  • Maintain current knowledge of RCA policies, operational changes, and technological updates while incorporating those changes into staff education and workflows.
  • Ensure nursing staff remain current with required trainings, electronic learning modules, and annual competencies.
  • Maintain competency in medication administration, suicide risk assessment, aggression screening, and CLIA-waived testing.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives, performance improvement activities, emergency preparedness planning, and infection control efforts.

Job Requirements
  • Current active RN license in the state of Massachusetts strongly preferred.
  • Current active LPN license in the state of Massachusetts required.
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience required; behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment experience preferred.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, charge nurse, or nurse management experience preferred.
  • Current CPR or BLS certification preferred (or must obtain during orientation).
  • Knowledge of addiction treatment, co-occurring disorders, trauma-informed care, ASAM criteria, treatment planning, motivational interviewing, and behavioral health best practices preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
  • Ability to effectively lead teams, provide coaching and corrective action, and maintain professionalism in high-acuity situations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams while managing multiple operational priorities.
  • Ability to safely administer medications and perform at least two consecutive minutes of quality CPR.
