Full Job Description
The Nurse Educator, in conjunction with nursing and ancillary departments coordinates and supports the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluation of clinical education services for the Hospital. Duties include, but not limited to, staff development which includes staff orientation and in-service, continuing education programs which assist employees to acquire and maintain and increase their level of competencies in fulfilling their job expectations in accordance with current education standards, accreditation requirements, ANA standards for Nursing Professional Development, Continuing Education and Staff Development.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Master's Degree- Nursing Education - PREFERRED
  • Minimum of four (4) years of clinical nursing experience including three (3) years of demonstrated leadership and teaching skills in Nursing, required; or satisfactory combination of education and experience.
  • New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse
  • Nursing Education Certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Knowledge and skill in crisis prevention, which includes de-escalation techniques (CPI training) to be done in a yearly basis along with other nurse educator competencies
  • Knowledge and skill in restraint/ seclusion training to the staff, which includes getting yearly competencies on restraint application
  • Knowledge of TJC and CMS guidelines pertaining to the nursing education needs of the staff
