US Citizenship RequiredJOB SUMMARY:The Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer provides advanced technical expertise to ensure nuclear operations are conducted safely and in compliance with applicable nuclear criticality safety (NCS) requirements. This role is responsible for performing and reviewing criticality safety evaluations, supporting facility operations, and ensuring compliance with DOE, NRC, and applicable industry standards. The position works with moderate supervision and serves as a technical resource for operations, engineering, and safety personnel.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:- Criticality Safety-related assessments
- Training and mentoring of criticality safety staff and operations staff on criticality safety policies and programs
- Nuclear criticality safety-related DOE orders and regulations compliance support, including implementation of related guidance.
- Conduct Criticality Safety Evaluation Reports (CSERs) development compliant with American National Standards Institute (ANSI/ANS) 8.1 and Criticality Safety Program
- Assist in qualification, verification, and validation of Criticality Safety Software in compliance with Nuclear Quality Assurance Certification Program (NQA-1), ANSI/ANS-8.24, and other applicable regulations and policies
- Respond to Criticality Safety Nonconformances per HNF-7098
- Aid in improvement and development of programmatic processes for Criticality Safety
- Meet the requirements of and achieve/maintain qualification as a CSE
The minimum qualifications are as follows:REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Education: Bachelor of Science or Art Degree in Engineering and Mathematics, physics or a related field.
Experience:Minimum of 5 years in the industry of which at leae3 are directly related to the required area of expertise; or a combination of experience and education as a Criticality Safety Engineer under 10 CFR 830.
