Job SummaryWe are seeking a
Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our
Inpatient Gastroenterology team in Shreveport, LA. This position works collaboratively with gastroenterologists and hospitalists to provide high-quality care for hospitalized patients with a variety of gastrointestinal conditions.
The APP will play an important role in supporting the inpatient GI service, particularly while physicians are performing procedures, by assisting with
patient rounding, follow-up visits, and ongoing management of GI patients.
Key Responsibilities- Perform inpatient rounding and follow-up visits for GI patients
- Evaluate and manage hospitalized patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions
- Support the GI service while physicians are performing procedures
- Work closely with gastroenterologists, hospitalists, nursing staff, and other members of the care team
- Order and interpret laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic testing
- Assist with treatment planning and ongoing patient management
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR
Qualifications- Current Louisiana license or eligibility for licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- National certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA)
- Previous Gastroenterology experience preferred
- Previous inpatient or hospital-based experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work collaboratively in a hospital environment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Schedule & Compensation- Monday-Friday
- 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Full-time, inpatient position
