Regional Power Generation Practice Leader to grow our Power Generation Program in our
North Central Region (MI, MN/WI, ND/SD/WY, NE/IA, IL/IN, MO/KS, CO). The regional leader will work with our National Power Generation Practice Leader, area operational leaders and regional business development leads to grow our teams and our business with new and existing clients.

Primary ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties of the Regional Power Generation Practice Leader will involve identifying and pursuing opportunities to support new and existing clients with consulting, planning, development, design, permitting and optimization of their energy systems and portfolios. Responsibilities for this position will include client management, business development, project management, and providing leadership to grow a multi-disciplinary team of Power Generation professionals in the local market to drive growth.
The successful Candidate may serve as a technical advisor and consultant for projects primarily in large scale Utility, Independent Power Producer (IPP), Developer, Municipal Co-Op, Distributed Generation, Microgrid, Data Center and Industrial markets. The ideal Candidate would have exposure to Integrated Resource Planning efforts, and broad experience with a wide range of technologies such as conventional fossil, distributed generation including CHP and district heating & cooling, microgrids, nuclear, renewables (solar and wind), alternate fuels such as hydrogen, biomass, biogas, and energy storage technologies.
Specific responsibilities will include:- Work with internal HDR partners to inform and implement HDR's regional Power Generation market strategy. Lead and/or participate in regional and national HDR Power Generation planning meetings to identify target markets and clients.
- Collaborate with the local area Business Group Managers to promote the growth of HDR Power practice and capability in the local region by supporting talent acquisition activities.
- Identify and pursue project opportunities to deliver HDR services in the local Power market including consulting, project development, siting, planning, owners engineering, retrofitting, permitting, detailed design, support during construction, among others.
- Support marketing and communications team in all phases of "Winning the work". This includes driving development and internal business process approvals for: Request for Proposal (RFP) solicitations, fee proposals development, risk management of commercial terms reviews and contract negotiations.
- Serve as Project and /or Client Manager for key contracts and be responsible for the coordination, quality, and timely completion of projects.
- Work cooperatively with regional directors, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers.
- Establish and maintain client relationships. Candidate should be able to recognize HDR services and activities outside of core services that would benefit clients.
- Collaborate with a geographically diverse set of Section Managers at HDR Power Centers of Excellence, to support the implementation of technical best practices and project execution in the local region.
Preferred Qualifications:- Master's degree in business or engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of energy industry related experience.
- Experience with consulting, development, planning, design, and construction of power generation systems (preferably gas generation).
- Experience managing and coordinating with cross functional teams including engineers, economists, legal, marketing, and strategic communications.
- Familiarity with current industry trends, incentives, and policy changes that impact Client needs.
- Experience presenting in national level Symposiums and Power Conferences on technical topics.
- Understanding of policy and financial drivers for the energy market.
- Understanding of the various energy markets in the United States and ability to identify opportunities within he regional market of responsibility.
- Project management skills with a strong ability to maintain a high standard of quality in the project deliverable.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate company business processes and procedures for client management and business development opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to establish new business relationships and to grow existing accounts.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Must have excellent communication, presentation, and written skills.
- Ability to travel to in-person meetings and conferences, as needed.
