Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Communications Supervisor with our Operational Technology department. The successful candidate is responsible for the coordination of internal and external resources to ensure project deliverables are met and that the operational goals of the Autonomous Haulage and other surface automation implementations are fulfilled. We are looking for a hands-on experienced communications engineer who will be responsible for supervising the various technical personnel in the execution of projects/tasks with adherence to the constraints of a project budget, while coordinating with NGM Open Pit and Information Technology departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage field crew(s) for the deployment, diagnosis, maintenance and repair of the Autonomous network and associated hardware and software.
  • Support initiatives for alternative mine plan scenarios and participate in analysis of project sensitivities throughout NGM Open Pits.
  • Ensure field installations comply with design and regulatory issues.
  • Consult on 2-Way network configurations to ensure compliance, flexibility, and standardization of procedures.
  • Provide training and support for local teams as part of above
  • Develop system-wide standards of configuration to ensure system-wide compatibility
  • Ability to monitor, analyze and report health of all AHS-related systems.
  • Innovate ad-hoc solutions to issues requiring modification of operations.
  • Provide project Communication internally to various project stakeholders.
  • Engage in evaluation of all Technology solutions regarding: S&H Risk, Prod Risk, and Sustained Feasibility.
  • Ensure a Safe and Environmentally responsible project implementation will all staff, consultants, and contractors; and
  • Ensure adherence to the project budget, forecasts, and reporting cadences.
  • Supervise subordinate technicians (8) in multiple disciplines employed in AHS operations
  • Coordinate with and provide support to other sections within the Automation and Operations Technology group.
  • Attend and engage in multi-discipline technical meetings to provide input and set goals.
  • Technical training to develop cartography skills and interpret for others in the group
  • Other responsibilities as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years practical experience operating a high-availability operation-critical communications network required.
  • Five (5) years practical experience in a leadership or technical services role within a mining environment required.
  • Accredited post-secondary education (a Bachelors of Science (Mechanical/Electrical/ Chemical/Mining)) will be considered as experience, amount depending on nature and extent.
  • FCC licensing required minimum: Technician's license with intent to progress to General Radiotelephone Operator's License. Additional industry certifications may be considered as an interim step to GROL certification.
  • Demonstrated safety leadership capability for both self and team required.
  • Effective general knowledge of industry communications protocols including wired and wireless
  • Extensive experience with all aspects of Motorola 2-way systems; CapMax (DMR3) and peripheral systems experience required.
  • High degree of experience with Underground and Free Space (Surface) radio propagation.
  • Demonstrated experience with trunked systems using pilot signal controls (LTE, 3GPP, 5G, or 2-way).
  • Ability to read and interpret signal plots and propagation studies. Able to verify with field measurement using appropriate test equipment (Spectrum Analyzer, Service Monitor). Able to effect appropriate adjustments to system as required per technical inspections.
  • Knowledge and experience with Cisco networking products used in interconnect networks.
  • Ability to diagnose inter-connection network elements and effect repairs when required.
  • Understanding of and ability to research relevant parts of Title 47CFR, with emphasis on Part 15, Part 90, Part 27 and Part 96 (and related/referenced additional parts) compliance.
  • Ability to read schematics and execute tasks compliant with design(s)
  • Experience with Ac and DC power plants and equipment. Emphasis on solar/battery/generator systems.
  • Excellent leadership, people, and communication skills to act as a "Change Agent" required.
  • Exhibit outstanding verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational skills, and analytical skills required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project required.
  • Proficient with emerging technology adoption preferred; and
  • Project management experience preferred.
