Job DescriptionPosition Description:Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Capital Projects team. The successful candidate is accountable for the safe, efficient delivery of assigned major capital projects from study phase through execution, commissioning, and handover. The role leads integrated project teams, manages contractors and consultants, and is responsible for achieving project objectives in safety, scope, cost, schedule, and quality while ensuring alignment with corporate governance and stakeholder expectations.
Responsibilities:- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with company health, safety, and environmental standards and applicable regulatory requirements (including MSHA).
- Provide overall leadership and direction for assigned capital projects, with single-point accountability for project delivery outcomes.
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, including contracting strategy, resourcing plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Lead integrated project teams comprising engineering, procurement, construction, project controls, and commissioning functions.
- Manage EPC/EPCM contractors, construction contractors, and vendors, including tendering, award, and contract administration.
- Control project scope, cost, and schedule; manage change through formal change management processes.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; maintain project risk registers and contingency management plans.
- Ensure compliance with corporate investment governance, stage-gate requirements, and approval processes.
- Direct project reporting, including progress, forecasts, KPIs, and executive updates.
- Manage interfaces with operations, permitting, community, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee commissioning, ramp-up support, and orderly project closeout and handover to operations.
- Coach and develop project team members and support capability building across the projects group.
- Office-based role in Elko, Nevada, with regular travel to project sites and periodic time in Salt Lake City. Extended presence at project sites may be required during peak execution and commissioning phases.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; PMP or equivalent project management certification preferred
- Minimum 12-15 years of project management experience on mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial capital projects, including delivery of projects of significant value and complexity preferred
- Proven track record delivering projects through full lifecycle: studies, execution, commissioning, and handover preferred
- Strong experience in contract management across multiple contracting models (EPC, EPCM, lump sum, unit rate) preferred
- Working knowledge of North American regulatory, permitting, and labor environments preferred
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to build and align high-performing project teams preferred
- Excellent commercial and negotiation skills required
- Rigorous approach to project controls, governance, and risk management preferred
- Clear, concise communication and executive reporting capability required
- Decisive problem-solving under pressure with competing priorities preferred
