Join our team as a Newborn Screening Program Manager!

The Newborn Screening Program Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of the newborn screening program. This role ensures timely, accurate screening, follow-up, diagnosis, and coordination of care for infants identified with screened conditions. The manager leads program operations, regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, and stakeholder collaboration to safeguard infant health outcomes.

This position has an anticipated start date of January 2027.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Direct and oversee daily operations of the Delaware newborn screening program, including specimen collection, laboratory testing coordination, follow-up, and case management. Ensure screening services are delivered efficiently, accurately and within required timelines.
  2. Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with federal, state, and professional guidelines.
  3. Oversee data collection, management, and reporting systems for newborn screening activities.
    1. Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and appropriate use.
    2. Prepare reports for leadership, state agencies, and stakeholders.
  4. Collaborate with hospitals, laboratories, healthcare providers, genetic counselors, and public health partners. Support education and outreach efforts for healthcare providers and families.
  5. Serve as a liaison with state and federal agencies and advisory committees.
  6. Participate in regional or national newborn screening initiatives.
  7. Develop and manage program contracts and budget including submitting all required billing information to the state monthly.
  8. Work with Marketing & Communications to develop materials to be used for educational purposes to birthing hospitals and primary care providers

  • American Heart Association BLS required
  • Minimum 3 years program coordination or program management experience required. Experience in healthcare/newborn screening or public health preferred
