About the role:

Royal Abstract is seeking an experienced New York Title Officer & Underwriting Counsel to join our growing commercial title team. This role is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and clearing titles for commercial real estate transactions throughout New York while partnering with attorneys, lenders, developers, underwriters, and internal teams to facilitate successful closings.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of New York title practices, commercial real estate transactions, and title insurance principles. They are a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys solving complex title issues while delivering exceptional client service. A law degree is welcome but not required.

Responsibilities:
  • Review title searches, commitments, surveys, and related documents for commercial real estate transactions throughout New York
  • Analyze title reports and identify defects, encumbrances, liens, easements, and other title issues requiring resolution
  • Coordinate title clearance efforts with attorneys, lenders, developers, surveyors, underwriters, and other transaction participants
  • Prepare and review title commitments, endorsements, and clearance requirements in accordance with NY title practices
  • Evaluate underwriting risk and recommend practical solutions for complex title matters
  • Collaborate with national title underwriters to facilitate timely and accurate closings
  • Interpret NY property records and resolve ownership, conveyancing, and recording issues
  • Manage multiple commercial transactions simultaneously while ensuring deadlines and service expectations are met
  • Provide exceptional customer service by communicating proactively with clients and internal partners throughout the transaction process
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with company underwriting guidelines and industry best practices
  • Assist in special project and other responsibilities as needed


Skills and Experience:
  • 5+ years of commercial title experience, with a strong focus on New York transactions
  • Thorough understanding of New York title insurance practices, title clearance, and commercial real estate transactions
  • Experience reviewing title commitments, surveys, and related real estate documents
  • Ability to independently analyze and resolve complex title issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with client-focused approach
  • Ability to prioritize multiple transactions in a fast-paced environment
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent education preferred but not required
  • Existing relationships within the New York commercial real estate or title industry are a plus


Pay Details:

The base compensation range for this position is $125,000 - $225,000. This range reflects Acrisure's good faith estimate at the time of this posting. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.

Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
