Summary

The New Business Analyst Team Manager is accountable for leading and developing a dedicated team of New Business Analysts who underwrite Small Group ACA and Level-Funded business across the full portfolio of Carrier Partners. This leader ensures the team delivers timely, solution-oriented service to brokers, RSMs, and Carrier Partners while driving sales results and maintaining compliance with carrier underwriting guidelines.

The position can be remote or hybrid. Open to location.
Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Operations
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the New Business Analyst team, balancing workflow oversight with team development, resource management, continuous improvement, and performance reporting.
  • Maintains employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacation and paid time off, remote work coverage, and overtime scheduling.
  • Measures performance, provides coaching, and delivers mentor support to develop staff for career growth.
  • Empowers team members to share ideas, take ownership of their work, and contribute to process improvement.
  • Embraces and leads change to improve workflow efficiencies, enhance sales results, and reduce operating costs.

New Business Operations
  • Oversees comprehensive review and quality assurance of new Small Group ACA and Level-Funded business paperwork, including Master Applications, Legal & Tax Documents, Quarterly Wage Reports, sold rate quotes, Employee Applications/Waivers, and carrier submissions.
  • Develops and enforces standardized service level expectations for new business workflows; tracks escalations and removes barriers to ensure timely case advancement.
  • Partners with RSMs, BSRs, brokers, and Carrier Partners to resolve complex cases and drive groups through to carrier approval.
  • Maintains Salesforce workflow integrity across the team, ensuring files and case statuses are accurately updated throughout the lifecycle of each case.
  • Collaborates with Sales Team to support and drive new business results.
  • Evaluates team performance and operational results, identifies opportunities for improvement, and communicates findings to leadership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategy
  • Serves as a key contact for the Director of Operations; collaborates extensively with all functional areas to deliver operational excellence.
  • Provides strategic direction to the team and partners with internal business leaders as new processes, products, systems, or platforms are developed and rolled out.
  • Works closely with the leadership team to ensure all operational functions are properly executed with best practices, leading to exceptional service and compliance.
  • Supports firm-wide training programs, reinforcing technology and operational infrastructure between departments to ensure consistency and quality standards.
  • Attends Sales Team meetings to collaborate, strategize, and align new business operations with broader sales objectives.
  • Stays current on industry regulations, carrier guideline changes, trends, and technology.


Qualifications & Competencies
  • Proven work experience as a Team Manager, Operations Manager, or similar leadership role within the insurance industry.
  • Deep knowledge of Small Group ACA/Level-Funded underwriting processes, carrier guidelines, and benefits products.
  • Ability to lead and develop people in both in-person and remote environments.
  • Strong Salesforce proficiency; experience with EaseCentral/EE Navigator and other benefits administration platforms preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, intermediate-to-advanced Excel, Word, and Microsoft Teams; web-based audio/video conferencing.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills - clear, professional oral and written communication.
  • Strong collaboration skills; demonstrated ability to partner at all levels with cross-functional business areas on both strategic and tactical levels.
  • Critical thinking and solutions-oriented mindset; ability to proactively resolve complex issues and escalations.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, negotiate mutually successful outcomes, and perform well under pressure.

Education & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in insurance operations, new business, or underwriting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of people management and team development experience in a sales support or operations environment.

Pursuant to California regulation, the compensation range for this position is as stated and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses.

$95,000-$105,000 USD
