Full Job Description
Banner University Medical Group (BUMG), in partnership with the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson, is seeking a Neurosurgeon to join our growing academic program at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson (BUMC-T).

This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding department led by Julie Pilitsis, MD, PhD, MBA, and contribute to the continued growth of neurosurgical services in Southern Arizona. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive general neurosurgical care while participating in the education of residents, fellows, and medical students in a collaborative academic environment.

The practice offers a balance of outpatient clinic and operative care, with an average schedule of approximately two clinic days and two OR days per week. Physicians see approximately 10-12 patients per clinic day and treat a broad range of general neurosurgical conditions.

Position Highlights
  • Join a growing academic neurosurgery program at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson
  • Broad-based general neurosurgery practice with both clinical and operative responsibilities
  • Approximately 2 clinic days and 2 OR days per week
  • Academic appointment through the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson
  • Teach and mentor neurosurgery residents, fellows, and medical students across clinical and academic settings
  • Work alongside an established team of neurosurgeons in a collaborative and innovative environment
  • Current training program includes 9 residents and 2 fellows, with an approved complement increase that will ultimately expand the residency to 14 residents
  • Opportunities to participate in clinical trials, research, and other academic initiatives
  • Collaborative relationships with Neurology, Anesthesiology/Perioperative Services, and other multidisciplinary teams
  • Call expectation of approximately 7 days per month, with residents providing first response
  • Opportunity to contribute to the continued development of BUMC-T as a destination for neurosurgical care in Southern Arizona

Academic & Teaching Opportunity

As a physician with Banner University Medical Group - Tucson, the successful candidate will incorporate approximately 10% academic time into their FTE. Responsibilities include teaching residents and fellows in clinical and academic settings and participating in medical student rotations. Candidates interested in clinical research and trials are encouraged to participate in the department's academic mission.

Practice Location

Clinical practice is based at 3838 N. Campbell Ave., Tucson, Arizona, with operative cases performed at Banner - University Medical Center Tucson.
