Cyber Security Administrator - Contractor
1. Objective
The objective of this engagement is to provide specialized network and cyber Security administration support to ensure state agencies maintain secure, compliant, and modern network infrastructures. This role focuses on the mitigation of operational challenges, hardware lifecycles, and the execution of critical security requests.
2. Scope of Services
The Contractor shall perform network security tasks for various state agencies, specifically focusing on:
  • Administrative Daily Responsibilities: Review and execution of Firewall Service Requests (FSRs), break-fix tickets, and formal change requests.
  • Infrastructure Modernization: Facilitating the decommissioning and "refresh" of End-of-Life (EOL) hardware on a recurring basis.
  • Compliance Maintenance: Implementing security controls and configurations to ensure agencies remain in alignment with IRS, FBI, and CJI compliance standards.
  • Hardware Administration: Technical configuration and management of Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewalls.
3. Operational Requirements & Schedule
The Contractor is expected to mirror the duties and availability of a Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) staff member:
  • Standard Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
  • On-Call Rotation: Participation in a weekly on-call rotation to address after-hours incidents.
  • After-Hours Maintenance: Availability for scheduled maintenance windows or emergency response situations outside of standard business hours.
  • Background checks: Must be able to pass Criminal, financial backgrounds and drug test
4. Technical Qualifications
The Contractor should show base Knowledge and maintain proficiency in:
  • Palo Alto Firewalls: Next-generation firewall features such as, Zones, security policies, S2S VPN, Natting, and basic threat prevention
  • Cisco ASA Firewalls: Configuration, troubleshooting, and rule management.
  • General Networking: foundational knowledge of routing protocols, subnetting, OSI model ETC..
