These roles support VA OIT in delivering secure, resilient, and scalable network services that power the VA mission nationwide.

In this role, you will contribute directly to modernization efforts that enhance the VA's ability to deliver care and benefits to millions of Veterans. This includes supporting next-generation initiatives such as building high-performance network fabrics for AI and data-intensive workloads using north-south and east-west segmentation; deploying EVPN/VXLAN overlays to increase scale, segmentation, and agility across data centers and campus networks; advancing IPv6-first designs to ensure long-term readiness; and integrating LEO satellite connectivity to bolster continuity of operations, provide emergency failover, and extend reliable services to remote clinics.

You will play a hands-on role in WAN modernization, carrier coordination, circuit activation, standards enforcement, and operational upgrades that keep the VA's nationwide infrastructure resilient and efficient around the clock.

This role will require you to obtain and maintain Public Trust Suitability and will require you to provide onsite fingerprinting at a designated facility. This investigation may review personal and criminal behavior, financial conduct, foreign influence, as well as other adjudications.

Visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

• Support IPS hardware operations and troubleshooting.
• Perform inside wiring modifications, Test and Turn-Up activities, and router architecture/IOS configuration changes for new or upgraded circuits.
• Assist in validating new configuration changes before deployment.
• Analyze application behavior in test environments to assess IP stack efficiency across WAN conditions.
• Support CNE engineering initiatives and assist in maintaining VA enterprise WAN standards and engineering principles.
• Provide tactical and strategic input on network capacity planning, engineering, management, and related projects.
• Provide maintenance support for Cisco VoIP and Cisco video conferencing systems.
