Full Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:

The Network Engineer will work with IT department to design, implement, maintain, and support ALG growing network infrastructure. The engineer will also be responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet ALG objectives.

The network engineer will work with both the Systems Engineer, focusing on high-level design and planning to ensure maximum performance of a high traffic network infrastructure while maintaining system integrity. The engineer will oversee the local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and more depending on the network complexity of a practice location.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, WAPs, Virtualization)
  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems, infrastructure performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies for all network equipment
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure

awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Work with vendors, AASC Operations, and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization
  • Undertake data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources
  • Secure network systems by enforcing policies established policies from the CIO, and defining and monitoring access
  • The support and administration of firewall environments in line with IT security policy
  • Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects
  • Responsible for:
    • configuration of routing and switching equipment
    • configuration of hosted IP voice services
    • basic configuration of firewalls
  • Capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data center
  • Liaising with project management teams, third-line engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basis
  • Speaking with physicians and staff via email and phone for initial requirement capture

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
  • MCSE, CCNP or proven experience
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols and OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
  • Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
  • Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
  • Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits. • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical demands are moderate. Requires standing, walking, sitting, and kneeling for possibly extended periods of time. Occasional lifting of items weighing approximately 30 to 50 pounds. Vision and hearing must be correctable to normal range. Must have manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to provide moderate level of PC and IT network maintenance.
