Role Overview:The Network Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining network infrastructure, specifically focusing on AV data, system integration, and troubleshooting. This role involves administering hardware, monitoring network performance, ensuring security, and supporting collaboration technologies, acting as an advanced escalation point for technical issues.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage VLANs, routing, QoS, and switches for AV data.
- Connect AV control systems to corporate LAN/WAN.
- Isolate and resolve routing, switching, and firewall issues.
- Install and maintain servers, switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Track network performance to prevent outages and identify bottlenecks.
- Enforce access permissions, implement firewalls, and perform data disaster recovery.
- Act as an advanced escalation point for Level 1/Level 2 help-desk tickets.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, system registries, and configuration logs.
- Support platforms like Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Cisco Webex.
- Work with external ISPs and hardware vendors to troubleshoot escalated faults.
Required Skills:- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and VLANs.
- AV over IP (AVoIP): knowledge of protocols like Dante, NDI, and AES67.
- Proficiency with enterprise vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or Palo Alto.
- Experience managing LAN/WAN topologies.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
- Problem-solving: Logically isolating complex, multi-layered IT issues.
- Communication: Translating complex technical jargon for non-IT stakeholders.
- Customer Service: Interacting directly with clients or staff to resolve downtime.
