Base Pay Range: $75,000 - $95,000 USD
Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors and this range represents an estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Base salary is only one part of our compensation package for this role. You may also be eligible for company stock and annual bonus. What We're Looking For:Iridium is seeking a Network Engineer II to support and maintain Iridium's Gateway telecom and data architecture and associated service subsystems. In this role, you will serve as a key support resource, assisting with final-tier escalation support to ground systems operations, including Gateway Technical Operations (GTO), Tier 2 Customer Support, and Service Delivery teams. In this role, you will gain valuable experience with satellite telecom gateway technologies across on-premise and cloud environments. You will contribute directly to the triage activities that impact service reliability, operational excellence, and new service deployments.
What You'll Do:- Collaborate with senior engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve technical issues
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of Gateway subsystems and services, both on-premise and cloud-based
- Support the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system, including script updates, alert response, dashboard monitoring, and periodic system reviews
- Assist in the identification, investigation, and resolution of operational issues
- Work closely with the Operations team to enhance maintenance procedures and improve troubleshooting success
- Partner with team members to ensure that high-quality products and services are ready for production deployment according to schedule
- Investigate and resolve Tier 2 customer tickets
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation for Gateway network elements and infrastructure
- Provide technical support to both internal teams and external partners
- Primarily support the Iridium Certus service suite
What You'll Need to Succeed:- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- 2+ years of of relevant experience in the telecommunications or a related technical field
- Working knowledge of Linux (Red Hat/CentOS), IP network infrastructure, VMware, ATCA platforms, and database systems/tools (Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL) from installation through maintenance
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to others
- Have confidence and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team
- Must be able to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed
- Be active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:- Any AWS certification (i.e., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, etc.)
- Knowledge of:
- Communications systems architecture
- Circuit- and packet-switched voice/data communications
- TCP/IP communications
- VoIP systems, including network management
- Experience with IPv4 networks, GSM, telecom systems, or real-time systems
- Experience with software lifecycle processes
- Experience in software development experience (C, C++, Python)
- Experience in IP network engineering, development, integration, and testing
We'll also need you to:- Be on call to support major network issues
- Be able to travel up to 10%

Work Environment:This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
