Position Overview: This role ensures infrastructure, identity, and endpoint platforms evolve in alignment with organizational growth while implementing secure, standardized, and well-documented systems that enhance end-user experience and long-term IT effectiveness. Additionally, this role will manage the modernization, resiliency, and scalability of the organization's technological environment by driving initiatives that expand cloud adoption, strengthen disaster recovery capabilities, and improve operational efficiency.
Job Responsibilities: - Administer cloud-based productivity and identity platforms to enhance collaboration, service availability, and enterprise security.
- Manage core server, identity, and virtualization infrastructure to ensure secure, stable, and compliant operations.
- Improve organizational resiliency by executing backup, recovery, patching, monitoring, and alert-response processes in accordance with established continuity and security standards.
- Manage and support network infrastructure components to maintain reliable, efficient, and secure connectivity across the organization.
- Support operational excellence through effective endpoint management, accurate technical documentation, and participation in scheduled on-call or after-hours support activities.
Other Duties
- Coordinate with external parties as needed to meet technology objectives.
- Assist Director of IT with IT planning and development of the IT department.
- Work as a member of business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response teams.
- Provide and maintain technical expertise, including education, certification, and familiarity with internal and external policies, State and Federal laws, and technical advancements.
- Provide second-level support to other technical staff.
- Represents technology and information security interests of RSIC to other state agencies, the public, and third-party groups.
Minimum and Additional Requirements - Associate degree in information technology, computer science, or related field.
- Three to five years of experience in information technology or related areas.
- Experience maintaining and supporting Windows servers, Active Directory and associated services, VMware and/or Nutanix virtualization, and the Microsoft 365 platform.
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerShell.
- Ability to work under limited supervision, maintain an acceptable quality of work, and prioritize work appropriately.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, customer service, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field.
- Applicable certifications from Microsoft, (ISC)2, or SANS.
- Knowledge of project management concepts.
- Knowledge of application development languages, tools, and concepts.
Additional CommentsPhysical Demands/Work Environment:May require on-call and/or after-hours work. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time while performing tasks.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:
- Expected to work occasional weekends, nights, or holidays for maintenance and system implementations.
- In a seated position for extended periods of time.
- Exposed to fluorescent office lighting throughout the work period.
- Reads information often only available digitally.
- Required to carry items of various sizes and weights up to approximately 50 lbs.
