TITLE: Network Administrator, AI Data Center Infrastructure

LOCATION: McLean, VA

CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, Onsite

TRAVEL: Up to 20% (Domestic and International)

POSITION SUMMARY

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking a Network Administrator to join a team of experienced network, platform, and software engineers building and operating next-generation data center networks that power Artificial Intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with industry-leading technologies and develop expertise in large-scale, mission-critical networking environments.

Ideal for someone with a foundation in IT systems, infrastructure, technical support, or networking, this role rewards curiosity, initiative, ownership, teamwork, and comfort tackling unfamiliar technologies. You will grow into a subject matter expert in modern data center networking, supported by mentorship, ongoing training, and professional development.

RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):
  • Assist in documenting, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting high-performance data center network infrastructure
  • Progressively build expertise through hands-on experience, self-directed learning, mentorship, and training in advanced networking technologies, including Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Equal Cost Multipath (ECMP), Virtual Extensible LAN (VXLAN), Spine-Leaf architectures, Multi-Chassis Link Aggregation Group (MCLAG), and RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCEv2)
  • Help identify performance trends, capacity constraints, and emerging issues before they impact services or customers; investigate incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive issues to resolution
  • Partner with experienced engineers to deploy, optimize, and scale network infrastructure supporting AI and other demanding workloads
  • Participate in network upgrades, implementations, testing, and operational improvement initiatives


REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must possess an active DoD TS/SCI with CI Polygraph security clearance.
  • Current Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level II certification to satisfy DoD 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) requirements
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and follow-through
  • Self-motivated and effective in fast-paced, continuously evolving technology environments, with enthusiasm to continuously learn new technical skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, domestic and international, to support deployments, installations, maintenance, and operational support


PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, Virtual LANs (VLANs), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), and basic network troubleshooting
  • Experience with monitoring, telemetry, observability, alerting, or performance management tools
  • Exposure to Linux systems or Linux-based Network Operating Systems (NOS)
