Full Job Description
SAIC is looking for a Senior Energy Storage Engineer to support the US Navy in Crane, IN. This position is 100% remote; however, candidate must be able to travel to Crane, IN approximately twice per month. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Engineer (Systems or Electrical) will provide engineering design, development, and systems integration support for DoW Power & Energy storage shipboard system acquisition programs. Develop program documentation for systems development, testing, implementation, and life cycle management for existing and new power and energy systems. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 3 Characterizing large-scale Li-ion battery performance criteria, developing failure modes, test planning, fire mitigation and suppression concepts, prototyping battery-agnostic containment solutions, and evaluating other alternative energy storage system viability. 3 Engineering support and requirements development for electrical, mechanical, and system controls and mitigation options for the system and the interfaces with the integrated shipboard environment3 Assist with engineering investigations of power and energy systems, energy storage enclosures and support processes, applying failure and material analysis methods, including non-destructive and destructive analysis for lithium-ion and silver-zinc chemistry energy storage systems, enclosures and mitigation systems3 Investigate and review commercially developed studies, analysis, evaluations, and assessments provided to the Government3 Support of DoW acquisition and acquisition management elements Qualifications REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE: 3 Bachelor's degree in engineering and five or more years of experience3 Experience with DoW Systems Engineering processes3 Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance. Can start once interim clearance is granted. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process3 US Citizenship required DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 3 Experience preparing documentation for the acquisition and life cycle processes to support of DoW systems3 Experience with battery management and control systems, power supply systems, energy storage systems, batteries, and related systems3 Experience with Cameo3 Experience with Directed Energy
