Navy Field Engineer/Technical Support SpecialistJob SummaryB&A is seeking a highly motivated Navy Field Engineer / Technical Support Specialist to support NAVSEA and NSWC Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) programs as part of an In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) team. This position aligns with DoD Manual 8140.03 Work Role 411 - Technical Support Specialist and supports shipboard assessments, fleet technical assistance, engineering investigations, modernization efforts, and lifecycle sustainment activities aboard U.S. Navy vessels and shore facilities.
The successful candidate will provide installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, technical assessment, remote technical assistance, cybersecurity, networking, and systems administration support for deployed information technology and mission systems. The position requires regular interaction with active-duty military personnel, government engineers, program managers, and shipboard crews.
Responsibilities- Coordinate activities with NAVSEA, NSWCPD, shipyards, Regional Maintenance Centers, and fleet stakeholders.
- Conduct shipboard technical assessments, surveys, equipment evaluations, and engineering investigations.
- Support remote technical assistance activities, diagnostics, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hardware, software, operating systems, networks, and cybersecurity systems.
- Support fleet modernization efforts, technology refreshes, upgrades, and installations.
Assist in development and execution of system integration, operational, acceptance, and validation testing. - Evaluate system configurations and verify compliance with approved technical baselines, cybersecurity requirements, and engineering documentation.
- Perform hardware and software fault isolation and corrective maintenance.
- Train fleet operators and maintainers in operation and maintenance of deployed systems.
- Prepare technical reports, assessment findings, engineering recommendations, and corrective action documentation.
- Participate in fleet technical assist visits, casualty response efforts, and emergent engineering support activities.
- Support cybersecurity compliance efforts including STIG implementation, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and RMF-related activities.
Education and ExperienceCandidates shall meet one of the following qualification pathways:
Option 1:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum four (4) years of military service, preferably U.S. Navy.
- Experience supporting information technology, networking, cybersecurity, communications, or mission systems.
Option 2:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or related technical discipline.
