The Opportunity:
Seeking a Naval Architecture and Marine Engineer to research and respond to maintenance related technical feedback report submissions and other special projects from Military Sealift Command (MSC).

Responsibilities:

Level Description:

◦ Established and productive individual contributor

◦ Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex
◦ May influence others technical staff through explanation of facts, policies and practices
Organizational Impact:
◦Works to achieve operational targets with significant impact on departmental results. Works independently under limited supervision. May be responsible for entire projects or processes within job area.
Innovation & Complexity:
◦ Implements and executes on technical initiatives and solutions. Responsible for making adjustments or recommended enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area.
◦ Addresses somewhat complex technical issues/problems that require a depth of technical job knowledge from other areas. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences, with analysis of the issue
Communication & Influence:
◦ Communicates with contacts typically within the project area or technical department on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring some explanation or interpretation in order to reach agreement. May work to influence parties within own job function at an operational level.
Leadership & Talent Management:
May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.
Knowledge & Experience:
◦ Requires advanced understanding and ability to apply standards, principles, theories, and technical concepts obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project management.
◦ Typically has a University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of related work experience.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must be a US Citizen and must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Confidential clearance

  • BS Degree in engineering or naval architecture program

  • Familiarization with Navy and MSC maintenance and logistics programs

  • Four years of post-graduate marine, power, or manufacturing plant technical exp.

  • Familiar with commercial ship operations, maintenance concepts, programs and procedures

  • NAVSEA Level I Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Training or equivalent covering requirements of MIL-P-24534A

  • If no degree, the person must demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and ability (years of experience can be concurrent):

  • Eight years of equivalent technical experience in Naval Architecture, Marine or other Naval Engineering work

  • Four years of commercial or Navy experience with maintenance concepts, programs and procedures
