The Role

Performs routine naval architecture work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of design and/or analyses of ship hull, foundation, superstructure, arrangements and hull form characteristics tasks. As directed, applies selected techniques and procedures to assignments involving ship design and ship performance analyses. Assists in the solution of difficult problems involved in areas of assignment. Uses prescribed methods to perform specific and limited portions of broader systems design, performance analyze, or hull form characteristic assignments of more experienced naval architects. The duties described herein cover major duties as required. However, this does not exclude the requirement of performing related duties under normal conditions, and other duties directed by supervision.

Candidate will serve as a senior Naval Architect supporting multiple Navy programs. Candidate must be recognized in the field as a subject matter expert for naval architecture and must demonstrate the ability to independently lead technical integration activities with substantial interaction with Navy engineering stakeholders. Researches, develops, designs, and analyzes naval architecture elements related to ship stability, hull form, arrangements, and major shipyard movement operations. Applies advanced naval architecture principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new analytical approaches and technical methods. Works on unusually complex stability and ship movement problems and provides solutions that are highly innovative, technically robust, and essential for safe execution of critical evolutions. Works under consultative direction toward long range operational and program objectives. Assignments are often self initiated. Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Develops advanced technical concepts and guides their integration into shipyard procedures and execution plans.

Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.

Bachelors degree of Science and 14 years of experience

Industry leader in naval architecture with deep knowledge of core naval architecture principles, industry codes, and engineering standards. Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers, with a strong ability to coordinate and communicate across cross functional groups. Ability to lead complex engineering projects with cross-functional teams. Strong communication skills for technical presentations, documentation, and stakeholder interactions.
