Job Description:

The Maintenance (MX) Programs Consultant serves as a subject matter expert within the Performance and Technology Team, supporting MX Programs and the Technical Data Management (TDM) group. This role Leads the development and execution of technology strategies and performance metrics that strengthen Southwest's Maintenance Programs. They'll partner with groups across Technical Operations, including Engineering, Regulatory Compliance, Performance Teams, and IT, to support safe and reliable aircraft operations and ensure alignment with Company and regulatory requirements. The Maintenance (MX) Programs Consultant contributes to analytics that inform operational decisions, enhancing overall effectiveness and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Proficient in developing and implementing strategic process improvements within MX Programs and the Technical Data Management function
  • Identifies operational inefficiencies in current processes and understanding the importance in improving them
  • Lead and facilitate sprint planning and Agile ceremonies as needed, adhering to Agile principles and practices
  • Proficient in execution of complex projects using standard program, project management, and agile methodologies
  • Ensures appropriate formal governance processes are followed for programs and projects (i.e. RCB, CASS, SMS etc)
  • Create and deliver presentations that are clear and concise while conveying key information such as roadmaps, and business cases to support change and drive alignment that can be presented at the executive level
  • Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at addressing unique operational challenges
  • Analyze complex data sets to derive insights for multiple solutions for problem solving, considering risks and benefits that inform a path to a business decision that aligns with long term business strategies
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership
  • Proficient in providing guidance and oversight to ensure execution of departmental and cross departmental projects in an efficient and compliant manner while ensuring to meet proposed deadlines
  • Proactively monitor projects and communicate risks, issues, and scope, ensuring the appropriate level of priority, visibility, and escalation
  • Mentor other team members and provide technical oversight to ensure consistent standards and performance
  • Leverage peer influence to drive stakeholder consensus and facilitate decision-making by effectively communicating risks, timelines, and outcomes
  • Act as a strategic advisor and change agent to Technical Operations leadership

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient understanding of aircraft systems, technical documentation, and maintenance program structures
  • Ability to leverage prior experience to address complex issues and deliver high-quality, forward-thinking solutions aligned with long-term departmental and business objectives
  • Experience with using tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, Microsoft Office 365 products
  • Proficient in developing and delivering clear, compelling PowerPoint presentations for varied audiences
  • Proficient in ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex projects across cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in interpreting regulatory, OEM documentation, and Engineering documents, such as but not limited to AMM, IPC, ADs, SBs, STCs, Engineering Orders, Design Drawings
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead, influence, collaborate, and adapt within cross-functional team environments; consistently effective under pressure and within proposed deadlines
  • Leads/navigates in authentic ways to resolve conflicts and champions processes that foster a collaborative team environment
  • Advanced in ability to demonstrate a work style that projects confidence and authority while maintaining composure, tailoring communication and influence tactics based on situational awareness
  • Highly seasoned in gathering requirements across cross functional work groups, create meeting minutes, action item lists, and drive assigned actions to close
  • Self-starter with a high degree of autonomy and accountability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment


Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED


Experience
  • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
    • Operations, technical data management, maintenance program strategy, or engineering within an Airline/OEM/MRO
    • Driving organizational change through performance metrics and process improvements
    • Managing high-impact, cross-functional projects and presenting to leadership


  • Preferred: Aviation and Tech Ops knowledge
  • Preferred: Maintenance Programs and AMT knowledge
  • Preferred: Data pulling and manipulation experience


Licensing/Certification
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SIDA badge and meet local airport requirements


Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

Pay & Benefits:

Competitive market salary from $103,750 per year to $115,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
