Responsibilities
- Provides music therapy sessions throughout assigned schools of the district including evaluations, treatment plans, session plans, and documentation through data collection daily driven by the students' Individual Educational Plan
- Travels daily to assigned schools to deliver music therapy services to selected self-contained special needs classrooms
- Maintains and provides daily documentation through data within domain areas in the IEP
- Integrates appropriate technology into music therapy sessions
- Promotes a positive classroom environment through well delivered therapeutic interventions
- Conducts assessments and develops treatment plans written with developmental and academic standards in place
- Works closely with the Music Therapy Department and the educating of college interns
- Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
- Follows all county, state and federal policies and procedures
- Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities
- Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent
- Works with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student's educational program
- Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
- Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from a regionally accredited university
Certification/Licensure:
- Must hold valid certification from the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)
- Active MT-BC (Music Therapist-Board Certified) credential granted by the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
- Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid license in the state of practice
- Assumes responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development
