Job Description

MUSC Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our dedicated Electrophysiology Department.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) serving as the Electrophysiology (EP) Department Coordinator at MUSC Heart & Vascular - Columbia Medical Center Downtown plays a key leadership and clinical integration role within the EP service line. This position supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered electrophysiology care by coordinating daily operations, optimizing patient throughput, and serving as a clinical liaison between physicians, nursing, procedural areas, and administrative leadership.

The APP Department Coordinator provides advanced clinical assessment and management for EP patients across the ambulatory and procedural continuum, including evaluation, treatment planning, patient education, and post-procedure follow-up. The role ensures alignment of clinical workflows, referral pathways, and patient access strategies to support growth of the EP program and enhance the overall patient experience.

In addition to direct patient care, the APP partners with the EP physicians and operational leadership to monitor clinical performance metrics, support quality and safety initiatives, streamline scheduling and resource utilization, and assist with developing standardized protocols and care pathways. The coordinator will also serve as a point-of-contact for interdisciplinary teams, helps manage complex patient navigation issues, and contributes to education for staff, patients, and referring providers.

This position requires a high level of autonomy, organization, clinical expertise in electrophysiology, and the ability to lead collaboratively within a rapidly growing cardiovascular service line.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years as an Advanced Practice Provider: Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with experience in cardiology (EP experience preferred but not required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required for adult inpatient positions
  • DHEC and DEA license applications must be started prior to first day
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to triage complex patients
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently across multiple providers and care settings
  • Interest in program building and systems-based practice


Position Highlights / Direct patient care activities:
  • Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinations
  • Evaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guideline
  • Initiates referrals to other health care provides, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physician
  • Documents and bills for direct care provided
  • Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice
  • Performs and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical research
  • Participates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization
  • Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education
