Full Job Description
We are hiring a Municipal Manager to help take the lead in shaping the future of our team of project managers, engineers, designers, technical staff, and more while meeting the goals of our annual business plan. The ideal candidate will have the passion to represent Ayres to our clients while mentoring our employee-owners to help grow the division. You'll be expected to have familiarity with the Florida marketplace and be able to capitalize on client relationships and market opportunities. Your professional acumen will poise you to leverage the network of various city and county governments as well as private clients in the areas of general civil engineering, water/wastewater utility engineering, and CEI-related services.

On any given day, you'll:

  • Develop the long-range strategic plan, the annual business plan, and the current year marketing plan for the group with particular emphasis on group P&L, capital purchase, and staff training.
  • Be accountable for key metrics including revenue and profitability goals, workload backlog, billing, accounts receivable, and image development.
  • Supervise the work activities of all project managers, engineers, technicians, and other assigned specialists.
  • Provide for and guide staff development.
  • Act as the company representative and spokesperson in the community, as well as be active in civic and professional organizations.
  • Conduct business development including client contact, marketing, and monitoring client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with other operational divisions to cultivate a team environment that leads to efficient and collaborative results.
  • Understand and support corporate policies and procedures.


Other duties may include:

  • Take the lead in successfully marketing and winning civil/utilities/CEI-related projects from public sector clients including cities, counties, and townships as well as private sector clients.
  • Oversee the technical production of all project work, assuring conformance with the quality standards of the firm and the requirements of the contract.
  • Prepare contract documents including scope of work, project schedule, and fee estimates, and negotiate with clients and sub-consultants.
  • Prepare and oversee quality assurance and quality control procedures.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Prior experience in supervising staff, managing projects, and developing new and maintaining existing clients.
  • Eagerness to cultivate a team environment where all staff members feel valued and supported and all ideas flow freely.
  • Self-motivated, performance-driven with excellent people skills.
  • Proven business development skills and a strong reputation with clients.
  • 10 years of experience in a consulting or engineering firm
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.


Desired Skills and Experiences:

  • Registered professional engineer (PE) in Florida.
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • 15 years of experience in Civil/Municipal engineering.
  • Well-established existing network of contacts.
