Multimedia Journalist, WEWSWEWS News 5, the E.W. Scripps ABC station in Cleveland, Ohio, is looking for a Multimedia Journalist to join our award-winning newsroom. This is not an entry-level position. We are seeking a journalist who can separate us from the competition through exceptional source-building, enterprise reporting, and compelling storytelling. WHAT YOU'LL DO:- Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and tips to develop original story ideas.
- Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research.
- Organize material, determine story emphasis, and write content according to editorial standards and AP style.
- Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
- Edit, or assist in editing, video for television, digital, social, and streaming platforms.
- Appear on television programs while conducting interviews or providing narration.
- Deliver live reports from the scene of breaking news and community events.
- Work collaboratively with photographers and other newsroom staff when assigned.
- Assist producers in preparing newscasts and coverage plans.
- Partner with digital teams to create compelling multimedia content for all platforms.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience.
- Generally, 3+ years of professional reporting experience preferred.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:- Strong journalism skills, including enterprise reporting, source development, and storytelling.
- Proven ability to develop exclusive stories through relationship-building, public records research, and enterprise reporting that delivers meaningful impact for local communities.
- Computer literacy, including experience with newsroom content management systems.
- Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred.
- Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment.
- Ability to edit video using Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, or similar editing systems.
- Strong broadcast writing and AP style skills.
- Experience publishing content across digital, social, and streaming platforms.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong news judgment and a commitment to accurate, ethical journalism.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with company-required limits.

Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in Ohio.
