Full Job Description
Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring MTS Silicon Design Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Collaborate with architects, hardware engineers, and firmware engineers to understand the new features to be verified. Build test plan documentation, accounting for interactions with other features, the hardware, the firmware, and the software driver use cases. Estimate the time required to write the new feature tests and any required changes to the test environment. Build the directed and random verification tests. Debug test failures to determine the root cause; work with RTL and firmware engineers to resolve design defects and correct any test issues. Review functional and code coverage metrics and modify or add tests or constrain random tests to meet the coverage requirements. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of or wide-ranging experience with computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, design techniques, tools, and principles to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Specific skills required: The following skills are required: Position requires two (2) years of experience in the following:
  • Hardware and software verification;
  • Coding;
  • Software debugging (macOS or Linux/Unix);
  • Data structures;
  • Programming languages, including C/C++, Ruby, Perl, Python, shell scripting, Makefile with coding and debugging;
  • Data formats, including XML, JSON, and YAML;
  • Linux/Unix OS, commands, and working with the file system; and
  • Version control system, including perforce, and Git.
